BellamyBellamy Young, born Amy Maria Young on 19 February 1970.) was an American actress, producer and performer best recognized for her role as Melody "Mellie", Grant, in ABC's drama series Scandal (2012)-2018. For her performance, she was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award for the Best Supporting actor in an Drama Series in 2014. The actress also appeared in the Fox drama series Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young began her acting career as a theatre actor. In 1997 she made her Broadway debut as Mary in the actors of The Life. In addition, her Off-Broadway performances include in Stephen Sondheim's We Rock Along (1994) as well as in Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). In 1995, she made her TV debut on a recurring character on the NBC daytime soap drama Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. She was a part of two seasons on Law & Order, 1997 and 1998. The year 1999 saw her film debut with an uncredited role on the crime thriller Black and White and later co-starred in several independent films. Her first guest appearances on variety of TV dramas and comedy series in the early 2000s. They were among them The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Between 2000 and in 2011, Young had more than 30 guest appearances on TV shows.
