Dua Lipa (born in London) is an English artist and singer. She was born on 22 August 1995, in London United Kingdom. In 2014, following a career as an actress and model she signed with Warner Bros Records. She launched her self-titled debut album in 2017. It peaked in at the third spot on the U.K. albums chart and featured eight singles with the most notable being U.K. top-ten track New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa is the recipient of Brit Awards for 2018 in the categories of British Female Artist and British Breakthrough Act. She has Bosnian ancestry through her grandmother. It is also possible to trace her ancestral roots in Peja within Kosovo. The grandparents of Lipa's grandfathers were both history professors. Gjin and Rina are her siblings. Lipa began to learn how guitar playing and sing with her dad Oda. He is the leader singer/guitarist for Kosovan's rock group Oda. Her father at home continued playing music which included his original compositions as well as songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa began singing at the age of 5 years old. She started singing during her school, the Sylvia Young Theater School when she was just nine years old. Lipa was featured on the hit song If I'm Gone You from Alicia Keys, and Beautiful Christina Aguilera. Lipa has signed her first recording agreement in 2014 with Warner Bros. Records. She released her first single New Love in August of 2015.
